Our firm remembers our founder, Chuck Taunt who passed away in March, 2019.  Chuck was a highly regarded attorney and entrepreneur who opened his private practice immediately following law school.  As a new lawyer striving to establish himself, he made connections with judges and experienced attorneys proving his commitment to the law.  He sought out criminal, domestic, and probate assignments, and attracted business and individual clients through referrals and his strong reputation for success on a case by case basis.  Over the years he built a practice that included many associates to handle the volume of business he generated.  He served as a Panel Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for more than 30 years.  He was a Special Investigator and Volunteer Arbitrator for the Attorney Grievance Commission, Case Evaluator for Oakland County Circuit Court, was appointed receiver in many state and federal court cases.  He was a speaker at numerous conferences in the areas of asset protection, bankruptcy and estate planning. Chuck loved mentoring young lawyers and was known by his legal peers for his kindness, civility, and high ethical standards.

For many years Chuck received outstanding accolades from many institutions such as dbusiness Detroit Top Lawyers; Law and Politics Michigan Super Lawyers; Top Lawyers in Michigan; American Registry’s America’s Most Honored Professionals; and Martindale Hubbell’s AV Rated Lawyers for more than 25 years.

Chuck always had an unique perspective in analyzing legal matters and achieved excellent results for many clients because of that gift. Chuck was thoughtful and deliberate in his words and deeds.  He was more than an attorney to his clients; representing them with determination, loyalty and acting as a true counselor, with advice on business and personal practices as well as legal matters.
